Frequently Asked Questions

Who can search the site?

Subscribers and non-subscribers can both search the site by entering a word or phrase in the search area at the right of the site banner, and clicking the Search icon.

Subscribers and non-subscribers will both be able to see a list of search results, but only subscribers will be able to click on entries in the results list to see the documents containing the results.

What content is searched?

By default, all of the products listed in the Publications & resources tab are searched from the basic search area in the site banner. The basic search area does not search the Suppliers, Jobs, or Events areas of the site. The Suppliers and Jobs areas can each be searched separately using the search functionality available from those tabs.

You can search for a single word (eg fire) or for several words (eg fire extinguisher) from the basic search. If you use several words, the words will be treated as an “and” search by default (ie the search will return documents that contain all of the words that you have searched for. Refer to the Search Operators page to find how to expand or restrict your search by using search operators.

If you don’t want to search all of the products available in the Publications & Resources tab. Basic search also allows you to restrict your search to the product you are currently in (ie single product search), or just the products that you subscribe to (ie exclude unsubscribed products).

You must log in before you can use the Subscribed products option.

You must navigate into a product before you can use the This product option.

Why are some of the results in the results list orange and some grey?

The results that appear in products that you subscribe to will appear with orange titles in the results list.

The results in products that you do not subscribe to will appear with grey titles in the results list.

Why are results from products I subscribe to appearing with grey titles?

You need to log in by clicking the blue Log in link at the top of the screen. You can not access documents in your subscribed products unless you are logged in.

Can I print or download documents?

Yes. If you wish to print the document that you are currently viewing, you can click the Print button to send the document directly to your printer.

If you wish to download the document as a PDF or Word/RTF document, you can click the Export button, and select one of the following two options:

  • Export this Document

  • Export as PDF

Selecting Export this Document will download the document you are viewing as a Word/RTF document.

Selecting Export as PDF will download the document you are viewing as a PDF document.

Can I print or download several documents at once?

You can use the Session Workbook to compile several documents at once for download, and then print the compiled document.

You can add a document to your Session Workbook from the Table of Contents or when viewing the document:

  • Adding a document to Session Workbook from the Table of Contents: Click the bookmark icon beside the document title

  • Adding a document you are currently viewing to the Session Workbook: Click the Add to session workbook button

When you are ready to download all of the documents you have added to the Session Workbook, do the following:

  1. Click the Session Workbook tab

  2. Click the Export all button

  3. Select Export this Document if you want to download the documents as a compiled Word/RTF document

  4. Select Export as PDF if you want to download the documents as a compiled PDF document

The documents you have added to the Session Workbook will now be downloaded in a single document.

You can now print or save the exported document.

Important: Any documents that you add to the Session Workbook will remain in the Session Workbook until you log out or close your browser window. Once you have logged out or closed your browser window the Session Workbook is automatically cleared, and the documents you have added will no longer be available from the Session Workbook unless you add them again.
